Hey Ho, Tenebrous Cult,
Behold! The cover art for IT CAME FROM TENEBROUS PRESS, a zine of short fiction and Tenebrous miscellanea that will be part of the 2025 Book Club subscription later this year, illustrated by Editor-in-Chief Alex Woodroe:
The cover encapsulates a bunch of our shared loves: The Creature from the Black Lagoon, 70’s Aquarius Records vibes, vintage concert posters and paperback covers…uh, skulls and laurels.
What we initially conceptualized as a fun little bonus for Book Club subscribers, something to do for a lark, has turned into…well, it’s still a lark. But it also scratches the itch of folding and stapling my own mini-comics not-so-many years ago.
Last year I was gifted a Feral House book reprinting some of the original propaganda magazines that the Process Church of the Final Judgment distributed on the streets of late 60’s London. Set aside the fact that the Process was begun by a pair of ejected Scientologists with an occasionally uncomfortable fascination for fascist imagery (in the “let’s be provocative but actually pretty dumb” fashion); and the fact that nothing much good comes from any organized religion, even one begun as a bit of a piss-take with a cool logo; underneath their cult mystique is some impeccable graphic design that I’m quite smitten by, and I hope to incorporate some of these elements into the I.C.F.10p zine, if we can wrangle a few extra hours out of the day:

Speaking of! Since folks continue to ask if they can sign up, we’ve opted to keep the 2025 Tenebrous Book Club open indefinitely. Far be it from us to deny anyone who wants to commit to our entire year’s lineup; we’re thrilled to have you onboard!
Aside from the aforementioned zine-to-come, print subscribers will receive a limited-edition t-shirt or tank top later this year, and random exclusive goodies along the way.
You can also do the Book Club in eBook format too; no shirt in that package, but you’ll still get digital versions of all applicable bonus content!

LOVE IN THE TIME OF CAPITALISM
We’re short on time this week so this actually will be a brief missive for once.
It’s World Book Day as I write this, so here’s your reminder that we’ve got all these incredible titles on preorder right now at our webstore; if you’re not interested in the Book Club, you can always order your dessert à la carte:

I’m off to the airport in just a few hours to retrieve a jet-lagged Alex from her latest four-country marathon to get to Portland. It’s been five months since she last visited, and crazy Tenebrous shit always develops when we’re in the same room. I can’t wait.
We’ll be plotting and planning across the Pacific Northwest before flying down to Ghoulish Bookfest in San Antonio next week. Somehow, despite our original intentions of not being on any panels, we each managed to get finagled into being on all of the panels (not really, it just feels like it). So if you wanna hear one or both of us run our mouths about indie publishing (Matt); Kickstarter campaigns (both); kaiju (Matt); or, uh, the Mystery Panel (Alex), well you’re in luck!
If you’re in the area, come see us.
No newsletter proper next week, unless something extra Weird happens. Always a possibility.
The world is not alright, but we can at least help each other be a little moreso. Treat yourself well.
Hail, Weirdos!
Hail Indie Publishing.
Hail the Tenebrous Cult.
