Tenebrous084: A return to the world of Joshua Hull's MOUTH, & our first movie review**
**Do not watch this film if you treasure your sanity
Hey Ho Tenebrous Cult!
The party doesn’t stop at 10p Manor: our merry month of anniversary self-celebration continues!
We’re up to our neck in amazing donated pieces from Tenebrous creators past and present, and we’re thrilled to share a few more of them with you today.
First off: did you know that LURE’s Tim McGregor (also Eynhallow, Wasps in the Ice Cream and a whole lot more) was an accomplished comics artist before he switched to terrifying us in prose form? Here’s a sampling from his vault:
Tim swears this talent has fled his corporeal form, but I’m not convinced; I’m holding out hope he’s gonna drop a graphic novel on us out of the blue one of these days.
If you’ve never read LURE? Well, carnivorous, vengeful sea creatures never go out of style.
Joshua Hull’s fantastic novella MOUTH continues to find new fans; deservingly, because if there’s one body part on display that’s bigger than this book’s mouth, it’s its heart (Thank you, thank you, my day job should be writing greeting cards).
We asked Joshua if he had anything appropriate in the archives for our anniversary celebration; but instead of something old, Joshua crafted this stirring coda, inspired by recent events, featuring two-thirds of the lead cast of MOUTH.
***Spoilers*** If you haven’t read MOUTH, it deals with a, um, mouth. A giant one. In the ground.
Joshua’s got a stream of horror books coming down the pipe (including a new one with us in 2026! Stay tuned for more info) but if you want to spend more time with the characters from MOUTH, you can do so here:
Lyndsey Croal, who joined the Tenebrous family (alongside Bitter Karella) with SPLIT SCREAM Volume Five, was generous enough to share her review of a recent cinematic favorite.
It definitely sounds…interesting, but fair warning: once you start watching this film, you might not be able to stop.
Like, ever:
If you want more supernatural Weird Horror from Lyndsey, check out SPLIT SCREAM Volume Five:
We’ll see you next week, with details on our final release of 2024; our book club for 2025; and more anniversary celebration.
Hail Indie Publishing.
Hail New Weird Lit.
Hail the Tenebrous Cult.
