10p060: A SPECTRE IS HAUNTING GREENTREE Cover Art Reveal! Preorders Open
Hey Ho, Tenebrous Cult!
Okay, we warned you a couple weeks ago that news was gonna be coming in fits and flurries for the next few months, so let’s just dive in.
Here’s the stunning cover art for Carson Winter’s upcoming A SPECTRE IS HAUNTING GREENTREE, crafted by Stefan Koidl:
I don’t even need to tell you a thing about this book now, do I? That cover sells itself.
But I’m going to anyway…
About A SPECTRE IS HAUNTING GREENTREE:
REAP WHAT YOU SOW
In the wake of a series of panic attacks, isolated and introverted Carina takes a friend up on an offer: go to Greentree, Oregon, escape her abusive ex, and start a new life.
But upon arrival, the town is stranger than Carina could have ever imagined.
For one, they still have a video store. For two, everyone is rich.
For three, what’s up with all these scarecrows?
As Greentree’s secrets begin to unravel, as the autumn sun bends below the corn, as scythes sharpen in the night—a violent revolution stirs.
Cover art by Stefan Koidl.
Interior illustrations by Matt Blairstone.
"Winter masterfully weaves creeping dread into every page of this nightmarish journey, blending the real horrors of domestic violence and power imbalances with surreal, supernatural terror."
Emma E. Murray, author of Crushing Snails and When the Devil
I handed early print ARCs to a couple folks at Ghoulish Book Fest last month; their gleeful reactions were infectious, and I’m happy that we’ll soon be sating the woefully-underserved “scarecrows in Horror fiction” audience (crossed with the “small-town horror,” “folk horror,” and “Capitalism-is-horror” markets. Hey, we aim to please.)
A SPECTRE IS HAUNTING GREENTREE is out August 15th, and is available to preorder now! As usual, you can get print+eBook or eBook-only from our new webstore.

In the meantime, FROM THE BELLY is available to preorder as well:
About FROM THE BELLY:
The whaling vessel Merciful has just made its strangest catch yet: a massive whale containing a still-living man secreted within its stomach lining. Sailor Isaiah Chase is tasked with keeping the enigmatic man alive.
As their relationship grows, a series of accidents, injuries and deaths quickly befall the ship and its crew. Isaiah is plagued by strangely prophetic dreams, even as the crew continues their endless quest for whale oil under the command of an increasingly unhinged captain.
As events spiral further out of control, the mysterious man confesses what Isaiah has begun to suspect: the crew of The Merciful has fallen into a cycle of punishment for their greed and destruction. Isaiah must confront the sea's vengeance made flesh, and choose between this new, strange love and the fate of the ship itself.
“A taut work of horror. Nahil gradually ratchets up the creepiness until it becomes undeniable that something supernatural is afoot. Admirers of Dan Simmons’ The Terror will be especially riveted.”
Publishers Weekly
“Seeps into your skin, reaching as deep as the bone, [and] harbours a sense of dread that never dissipates.”
Clay McLeod Chapman, What Kind of Mother and Ghost Eaters
FROM THE BELLY is out May 30th.

Get Your Dino-Horror Fix with REANIMATED REX
SPLIT SCREAM mastermind Alex Ebenstein has a new book on the way: REANIMATED REX!
About REANIMATED REX:
Welcome to Prehistoric Park—
Is something no longer said in these remote Michigan woods.
After a freak accident took the life of the co-owner, the long-abandoned theme park grew wild. Home to little more than decaying structures, resin dinosaur statues, and a mythic recluse, converging outsiders hope to find opportunity, nostalgia, family, and vengeance in the forgotten tourist attraction. But a storm is brewing, and the electrified air has more in store for the visitors than they could ever imagine.
“Everything I love about the original Jurassic Park—the thrill of fear, the tension of the chase, the joy of crunchy, squelching death. Ebenstein writes with the love of a true fan, and manages to bring all the dino fun to life in a contemporary blast of a story that manages to be very much its own thing. It’s the high-octane helluva good time you've been waiting for.”
Laurel Hightower, author of Crossroads and Below
REANIMATED REX is available for preorder direct from Alex E. right here!
Submissions for THE SKULL & LAUREL are open now
Y’all helped us lay the groundwork for the future of New Weird short fiction, and we ain’t f&%king around. We’re open for submissions until May 31st! Get all the details of what we’re looking for, and submit, here.
We’ve got more preorders, more signing announcements, more news coming next week. We’re trying to pace ourselves and we’re failing miserably…and it feels alright actually. Hopefully this Weird ship sustains its own forward energy when Alex and I inevitably burst into white hot flame. It should make for a lovely fireworks display, at the very least.
Take care of yourselves. The Indie publishing world has been…well, it’s been a lot lately. Remember to breathe; remember to hydrate; remember that no matter how hopeless it feels sometimes, the Good Weird will always outweigh the Bad Weird.
As always, we’re grateful to all of you.
Hail New Weird Horror.
Hail the Tenebrous Cult.
