10p030.5: Celebrate Pride Month w/Tenebrous Press: 15% of all webstore proceeds go to the Trevor Project
We could live off of dumpsters if we have to, Sell our blood by the pint to make rent, This kind of dignity doesn't come easy, But you'll never find it for sale
It seemed like we were moving past a lot of this shit for a while, didn’t it? Was I just delusional? Naive? Possibly. Anyway, the last couple years have been pretty deplorable and seemingly hopeless for those of us who aren’t straight, white, cis, and “preferably” male.
Speaking—for half of Team Tenebrous, anyway—as a straight, white, cis man: I think I can state pretty unequivocally that the last decade or so of evolution in social thinking has clearly not sat well with a whole bunch of straight, white, cis men (and others, unfortunately); and we are swimming pretty fiercely through the backslide.
I’m kinda fatally optimistic about most things; it’ll probably lead to my doom eventually (check the “fatal” part) but I’d like to think that we can overcome this fresh rise in fear-mongering, puritanical misinformation, hysteria and out-and-out falsehood and fight our way toward a world where we all are truly equal.
The tax man, and the current practical realities of independent publishing, dictate that we can’t keep this up permanently. But I figure the least we can do—in this month meant to recognize the Queer community as one—is share proceeds from the Tenebrous webstore with the Trevor Project, an organization that has been tireless in their commitment to love, acceptance and safety for all.
If there’s anything of ours you’ve been interested in, now’s a great time to pick it up.
Books? Shirts? It’s all fair game. It all helps.
And if you're able to do so, please consider donating on your own too, to funds that support your local Queer communities directly. People need help all over. We can all do The Good Work.
Thank you for allowing us into your community; we love being here.
